Sweet Potato Recipes
Introduction:
I presented the steamed sweet potato recipe before. You can read about it in this post. In my opinion, it’s one of the simplest sweet potato recipes. Today, I am going to share another recipe with you. As a matter of fact, you will know when you come to the end of this post that it belongs to another cooking method – rice porridge.
Recently, my girlfriend and I plan to eat sweet potato porridge in the evening. From many resources, I have learned that sweet potatoes are better than grains when it comes to nutrition and weight loss. I want to combine this porridge and other kinds of rice porridge (which I will introduce later on) with exercises.
Ingredients:
Polished round-grained rice: 50 g
Fresh sweet potatoes: 200 g
Seasonings:
White sugar: appropriate amount
Cool water: 1000 ml
Cooking steps for Sweet Potato Porridge:
Preparation Work:
1. Rinse the rice with clean water;
2. Immerse the rice in cool water for half an hour;
3. Strain the rice out;
4. Wash the fresh sweet potatoes clean with water;
5. Cut the rinsed sweet potatoes with peel into small dices;
Cooking for the rice porridge one of the sweet potato recipes:
1. Put the sweet potato dices and strained rice into a soup pot or a stockpot;
2. Cover them with 1000 ml of water;
3. Put the pot on high heat;
4. When the mixture boils, turn to low heat;
5. Simmer it until the porridge comes into being (becoming sticky);
6. Add in white sugar (the amount should be in line with your own preferences for taste);
7. Turn on the high heat and boil until it boils again;
8. Then add some water and boil it again;
9. You can repeat this for a few times (which is determined by your preferences).
Tips:
1. Sweet potato recipes are supposed to include rice or flour. In this case, you should prepare some pickles or vegetable soup to accompany it when you enjoy it in order to prevent the stomach from feeling bloated.
2. You might feel uncomfortable in your stomach if you eat cold ones.
3. Attentions should be paid to rotten sweet potatoes and those with sprouts because they are toxic.
4. If you have to peel the sweet potatoes, then you should try to peel only the red membrane on the very surface. Don’t cut too much of the middle part between the red membrane and the meat.
