Cauliflower Recipes - with Ketchup
Introduction to the Tomato Ketchup Cauliflower Recipe:
Another favorite of mine. Cauliflower is a flower that plays the role of a kind of vegetable. It is not like other vegetables which are usually the fruit of the plants in concern. I like this concept actually.
Although I loved enjoying all cauliflower recipes out there before I had ever tried to cook any of them, I didn’t realize how hard it is to cook it out until I came to know a very simple trick – putting them into hot water.
Yes, hot water will rinse and carry some nutrients away, but will also make things easy.
Ingredients of the Tomato Ketchup Cauliflower Recipe:
Cauliflower: 500 g (I normally use one)
Tomato Ketchup: 50 g
Seasonings:
Salt: 4 g
MSG: 2 g
White Sugar: 3 g
Finely minced ginger: 1 teaspoon
Starch: 1 teaspoon
Vegetable soup stock: 1 cup
Peanut oil: 20 g
Preparation Work:
1. Pour some clean water into a pot and turn on the high heat;
2. Break the cauliflower up into small pieces with hands;
3. Put the cauliflower pieces into boiling water;
4. Strain them out of the hot water after 3 minutes (when the cauliflower is done);
5. Mix the starch with clean water of appropriate amount.
Cooking Steps:
1. Preheat the peanut oil in the wok;
2. Drop the minced ginger and ketchup in;
3. Stir until the liquid gets very red;
4. Pour the vegetable soup stock into the wok;
5. Add in salt and white sugar;
6. Wait until it boils;
7. Skim the floating bubbles away;
8. Put the cauliflower pieces into the wok;
9. Add the MSG into it after 5 mintues;
10. Add in the water starch to thicken the soup.
Tips for this tomato ketchup cauliflower recipe:
1. It’s difficult to wash cauliflowers because some dirt or small insects are hidden in the small gaps. Here is a little tips for this. Immerse the cauliflower with cool water and add some salt into the water. All foreign substances will come out after some time.
