Cabbage, different from the Chinese cabbage, is something that can be seen often bother in the Eastern and the Western style dishes. It is said to help in weight loss because of the low calories that cabbage contains.

From my cooking experience, cabbage is a vegetable that can be cooked in many ways. The most difficult part is that stem of the leaves, which is hard to cook through. I will give you some of the tips that I use in order to address this problem.

From this recipe, you can find out what my cooking style looks like. Whenever I don’t know what to cook or how to cook, I will resort to the vegetable recipe that is similar to this.

Ingredients of the Quick Fried Cabbage Recipe:

Cabbage: 250 g

Seasonings:

Garlic: 2 cloves

Salt: half a teaspoon

Vegetable oil: 1 tablespoon

Soy sauce: 1 tablespoon

Vinegar: 1 teaspoon

Preparation Work:

1. Rip each leaf off, rinse it and break it into small pieces (The size should be determined by your own preferences.);

2. Repeat Step 1 until you are finished with the whole cabbage (or until you think it is enough for one serving);

3. Smash the garlic cloves by the side of your knife, remove the peel.

Cooking Steps:

1. Preheat the vegetable oil in the wok;

2. Drop the smashed garlic in;

3. Drop the cabbage pieces into the wok and stir quickly;

4. Add in the salt, soy sauce and vinegar when the cabbage becomes soft.

5. Stir fully and plate it for serving.

Tips:

1. The stems are difficult to be softened when the cabbage is stir-fired. If you don’t like crispy cabbage, then you can immerse the stems into hot water at the beginning. I don’t do this though because I like the freshly stir-fried cabbage. It is different from the Chinese cabbage in this respect. Chinese cabbage has to be cooked well in order to be edible.

2. As mentioned above, cabbages can be cooked in many ways. You can chop it into shreds and cook the same way, which is also delicious. When it comes to cooking, shape matters. Later on, I might come up with a post about the cabbage shred recipe.
