Stir Fried Shreds of Tofu Skin
Introduction:
Before uncovering the veil of the recipe of the day today, I would like to make a suspense by saying that this is one of the scarce recipes that I cooked for several consecutive meals.
Another reason for that is because Rachel loves it. It is rare for her to have such a good appetite in the past year ever since she started to wear retainer. Anyway, I like it, too, though I love every dish cooked by me. lol.
Ingredients:
Tofu skin: 250 g
Green bell peppers: one medium sized
Cabbage leaf: 3 big leaves
Seasonings:
Vegetable oil: 1 tablespoon
Scallion: 1 tablespoon (coarsely chopped)
Ginger shreds: 1 teaspoon
Red chili pepper: 1
Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
Cooking wine: 1 tablespoon
MSG: 1/4 teaspoon
Preparation Work:
1. Get the ginger shreds and the scallion ready;
2. Wash the red chili pepper clean, remove the stem and seeds, and shred it finely;
3. Wash the tofu skin clean with water and cut it into shreds;
4. Remove the stem and seeds from the green bell pepper, and cut it into shreds;
5. Wash the cabbage leaves clean and shred them;
Cooking Steps:
1. Heat the vegetable oil in the wok until it gets 60% hot;
2. Drop the chopped scallion, red chili pepper shreds and ginger shreds into the oil to make the wok fragrant by frying the flavor out of the seasonings;
3. Add all the shreds of bell peppers, cabbage leaves and tofu skin into the wok in order, mix them;
4. Add in salt, cooking wine, MSG and stir fully until they totally mix with each other.
5. Dish them out.
Cooking Tips:
1. More ingredients such as bamboo shoot shreds and/or shiitake mushroom shreds can be added to this dish. This way, it’s flavor and taste will be enriched and enhanced.
2. I found out that the cooking wine can add a beautiful taste to the dish. So I added a little bit more of it to this dish than the original recipe suggests.
