Quick Cucumber Recipe
Introduction:
Is cucumber a fruit or a vegetable? I did a little research. The answer is not definite. But I can summarize all of the answers here, i.e. cucumber is a vegetable because of its vine and it is a fruit because of its seeds.
Whatever the scientists classify it, I like cucumber all the same because of its characteristics of fruit and vegetables. That is because I can both eat it as a fruit and cook it as a vegetable. Due to its double identity, it is really easy to cook a cucumber recipe. The recipe today is one of the examples.
Ingredients:
Cucumbers: 2 fresh medium sized
Garlic clovers: 2
Fresh chili pepper: 1
Seasonings:
Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
Soy Sauce: 1 teaspoon
Vinegar: 1 teaspoon
MSG: 1/4 teaspoon
Vegetable oil: 1 tablespoon
Preparation Work:
1. Peel and slice the garlic cloves;
2. Wash the cucumbers clean and cut them into slices that are 2-3 mm thick;
3. Rinse the chili pepper, remove the stem and seeds, then chop it up into shapes that you like (To go along with the other ingredients, I just chop it along the intersection. )
Cooking Steps:
1. Preheat the oil in the wok on high heat;
2. Drop the sliced garlic cloves and the chopped chili pepper together into the wok and swing the wok by holding the handle until you smell the flavor of them;
3. Drop the cucumber slices into the wok and stir fry for one minute;
4. Add in the salt and MSG and stir until they mix full with each other.
5. Ready for serving.
Cooking Tips:
1. Choose those cucumbers with flowers and thorns, which are the tender ones.
2. Don’t fry too long. Otherwise, the cucumber slices will become softened, which I don’t like. You know what I like. I like the cracking noise when I chew on it. If you under cook it, there is no problem because cucumber is a fruit, too, as we mentioned in the beginning of this post.
